A new move can be very overwhelming and stressful. It’s hard to keep track of all the little things that you have to do. Here are a few simple tricks for a smoother move.

Plan ahead and start early!

1) Labeling Items- Mark the contents of boxes with markers.  Labeling what room it will go in your new home is also helpful. This will eliminate any confusion when you get to your destination.  Keep the labels simple - for example: Toys, shoes, books, etc.

2) Organizational Techniques- Begin packing boxes with items that you don’t use every day.  For example if it’s summer season, it’s probably safe to say you won't be needing your goose down coat anytime soon. Remember to pack heavy things on the bottom of the box and lighter objects on top.

3) Fragile- Use a lot of tape and bubblewrap to secure items delicate.  Label this box as "Fragile".

4) Transfer Services & Forward Mail - Transfer utilities services prior to your move (cable, electric, phone, etc.). Be sure to forward your mail or change your address so everything will be set up when you move in.
